Your Journey
Day 1: Machame Gate to Machame Camp
Your Kilimanjaro trekking adventure begins at Machame Gate, where registration and park formalities are completed. The steady ascent gradually introduces you to the mountain environment before arriving at Machame Camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Machame Gate to Machame Camp
Leaving the rainforest behind, the trail climbs into moorland terrain with expansive views across the Shira Plateau. The landscape changes dramatically with giant heathers, volcanic rock formations, and open ridges offering clear mountain views.
Day 3: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower
This is a key acclimatization day designed to help your body adjust to altitude. The trail climbs toward Lava Tower before descending into the scenic Barranco Valley. The descent improves acclimatization while providing breathtaking views of glaciers and towering cliffs.
Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
The day begins with the famous Barranco Wall climb, a rewarding and exciting scramble that is one of the highlights of the Machame Route. After reaching the top, the trail continues across ridges and valleys with dramatic glacier views before arriving at Karanga Camp.
